Les Couleurs Personnifiées

This series explores the personification of colors by using color psychology. Before each piece research was done on the color psychology and the different feelings each color would evoke. This series was a huge passion product and contains a lot of my favorite pieces in my portfolio.

This portfolio series won the Scholastic Silver Key in 2019!

Le Violet Watercolor. 12″ x 18″. Selection from my series ‘Les Couleurs Personnifiées’Purple long represented royalty, power, and wealth. With yellow as purple’s complementary color, I used gold to further drive the theme of wealth. The theme of corruption in wealth and power is further driven through how the gold is smeared on his face, showing how power and wealth can taint a person.
Le Bordeaux

Le Bordeaux Watercolor. 12″ x 18″. Selection from my series ‘Les Couleurs Personnifiées’. The negative aspects of maroon refer to aggression, and dominance that instills fear, danger, and stress. Maroon being the color of blood further dives this negative connotation.
La Rouge

La Rouge Watercolor. 18″ x 12″. Selection from my series ‘Les Couleurs Personnifiées’. Red is the color linked with sexuality and desire. Red attracts the attention of others. The rose being a red flower commonly used to symbolize seduction and romance further enhances this conceptualization.
La Verte

La Verte Watercolor. 18″ x 12″. Selection from my series ‘Les Couleurs Personnifiées’. Green is a lively color, it symbolizes renewal and growth, balnce, calm, harmony, and health. Green being a dominant color in the enviornment, persofying green through "Mother Nature" felt natural.
La Sarcelle

La Sarcelle Watercolor. 12″ x 18″. Selection from my series ‘Les Couleurs Personnifiées’. Turquoise has a strong link to the color of the ocean It can be connected to calmness, peace, and emotional balance. This color gives a feeling of serenity and stability, associated with clarity of mind and creativity.
La Indigo

La Indigo Watercolor. 12″ x 18″. Selection from my series ‘Les Couleurs Personnifiées’. Indigo suggests fairness and integrity, a need for organization. It has to do with rules, tradition and religion; it’s a color related to devotion and helping others.

‘Untitled Series’

This series follows a chronological order, starting with images of nature untouched, and then as the series progresses nature starts to deteriorate. Color and different media are used to represent the state of the environment. The change from using watercolor into using acrylic as my medium is symbolic of the state of the environment in each piece.

El Salto Angel Watercolor. 12" x 18". El Salto Angel is a waterfall in Venezuela, and the highest waterfall in the world. In the heart of the Amazon, el Salto Angel surrounds itself with the peak of our environment and biodiversity. It truly showcases the beauty this world is capable of.

Pithecophaga Jefferyi Acrylic on Wood. Human interaction with nature. The Philippine Eagle was the national bird of the Philippines but now it is an endangered species and one of the rarest birds in the world. The filipino man is shown looking at the damage done to the bird due to deforestation.
